I am a senior this year and i applied for FASFA and I wanted to know how much aid i would get. I really don’t have any Scholarships offers. My mom makes 27,000 and dad doesn’t contribute to the family. So pretty much he doesn’t live here. I also have a brother in High school that might be attending college in 2011. Is this gonna effect how much I get from FASFA?

Now my question is, which would be “best”/”more suitable”/”insert word here” for my interests?
Currently, I’m debating whether I should enter into Pharmacy ((Parents’ urging + general interest in science [particularly Chemistry] and math))
OR
Some form of international relations study((somewhat of an inborn desire/liking + I’ve always been interested in the Peace Corps/community service abroad/international travel)).
Tuition and fees are a considerable factor in my college decision, considering I’ve been attending a Catholic school all my life ((HEFTY SUM!)) and my parents deserve a break from working ((in mid-50s already)).
P.S., if it is not too much work, could you also suggest a job that might incorporate both worlds ((and provide a good pay as well))?

I have a couple of friends who work for DuPont, make buckets of money, and love their job! They are married to each other, have four kids, and now that all the kids are back in school, the mom just returned to work there…but he made plenty to care for them while she stayed home for a few years.

Pharmacists, for the most part, burn out quickly, and though they have good pay, they are on a crappy time-schedule, often work holidays AND weekends, rarely get lunch-breaks, work 12-hours shifts, and just learn to hate the job rather quickly. The burn-out takes longer in a hospital or private setting, but in a drug-store chain, you will probably hate life pretty soon….I have friends who are PharmD’s in both settings and the one at the hospital is a lil happier than the retail pharmacist….but don’t let your parents decide your future job….
