early graduation from High School?

~ I will have 21 credits for graduation by Feb 2010.
~ I have no Scholarships
~I took my first ACT score was 15. I need 27 to get into Ohio State University Application deadline is FEB 1, 2010.

~I already took my senior classes during my junior yr.

Can it be possible that I can graduate this yr I am a junior. But I have full credits for graduation. But not a good act score to get in to Ohio State University. My friend told me to go Columbus State and than transfer from there to Ohio State. You dont need to take the act to go columbus state. But when I transfer won’t I need to show act score when I get transfer to Ohio State after a yr or a quarter. After how long will i be able to transfer to Ohio State from there. Can that happen? Should I do that. Or work on my act score improve it and then go OSU next yr 2011 fall spend a yr in high school. I wont have any classes to take. Because I took my senior yr classes this yr. Or Should I do post secondary in high school, or dual enrollment. I don’t know what to do?? Plzzzz help:) i have no scholarship? My major will be Medical

Indians girls are smart good job!! punjabmiss lady but remember don’t look too much smart is always a good thing i suggest you to finish your year in a normal way with humility you will find a job
without having all that pressure from people that think you are some kind of genius who can not take a rest anyway good luck bye bye

There is no such major as “medical”, and pre-med is NOT a major. You need to know this.

I agree with the previous poster. Do some more research about your career.

That being said, graduate now, go to community college, then transfer to Ohio State. I don’t know Ohio State’s transfer policy, but they may ask for your ACT score so take it again.

I want to graduate from high school a yr early. I mean I am suppose to be a Senior instead junior. but because i had head surgery when i was in 3rd grade. they put me back a yr. Now I am earning high school on online taking online classes. Do you think that would work? Does attendence count toward early graduation. I think you need to have 97% percent attendence I did only 3 absents because i was sick. Does that counts!!. I took the ACT test and got 15 score on first time. You need 27 to get into Ohio State Univerisity. the scholarship deadline is dec 1 for ohio state university. i don’t think i will get the scholarship from college. Do you think I should apply for financial aid, because i don’t want to repay the loan. Please help find a solution to this problem. I want to graduate in 2010 instead of 2011. Tell me how can I get a scholarship from the college. How can I get admission into college. I’m going in circles earning my credits first. And can you get scholarship by searching on online. How much $ $ $ $ $ of scholarship do you think i need to go into Pre-Medicine. Becoming a Neurosurgeon. I want to get a headstart in college. What should to my counslour. I really nervous what if she says you cannot graduate. I’ll be sooooo sad:( Tell me how to in order start out. Right now I am earning credits on online I already earned 7 need only 1 more. from last yr I had 8. plus more 8 equals 16. and how in high school i am earning 6. you need 21 to graduate i’ll have 22. The next act is in dec 5 the college deadline is dec 1. I don’t think i will make it. can you tell me websites to earn good scholarships for going into medicine. if the college does not give scholarship to me. for going into medical. I will vote best answer to who helps me out with this problem. :)

I think you need to ask your guidance counselors these questions. You have so many and I’m afraid of telling you something that could be wrong:

I have heard of kids graduating early but all I’ve seen are Seniors that end up finishing school a semester ahead of their classmates. You’ll need to qualify, not only to graduate high school early but to also go to the college that you want to attend in the future and you might be better off taking that extra year to ensure your success.

You can file for financial aid but as a college student, there’s almost no way of avoiding student loans unless you qualify for a program/scholarship that will pay for your entire tuition and you’d still probably have to pay for books too.

As for your desire to be a neurosurgeon, you’d have to first go to college and take Liberal Studies, get a Bachelor’s and then go to Medical School. That’s more $ because you need a Master’s degree to be a doctor and you’d also have to a residency at a local hospital and pay to practice whatever type of medicine you want to practice. Ask a college counselor about those steps, especially about what to study for your BS/BA.

Go to your school’s Career Center and ask them about the different types of scholarships you qualify for. Ask your parents if they can get a scholarship for you through their line of work. If you have a job, ask your boss if there’s a scholarship that you can apply for. Don’t forget about doing your FASFA because that way you’ll qualify for federal and state grants. Grants don’t have to be paid back, I think.

Calm down a little! Running in circles will get you no where! :)

Many guidance counselors lie about things. My apologies to the guidance counselor above, who sounds like an honest fellow, but both my best friend and I were lied to about state requirements in junior high. He tried to force us into Home Ec, which was not a state requirement, but that counselor apparently really loved it.

They lied to my mother about other things as well, including the state’s laws about graduation requirements, academic standards, and schooling at home. Apparently they didn’t want her to school us at home, even though she could see that the public schools were boring us to tears, and that the seven hours a day we spent on campus was seven hours a day that we could have been actually learning instead of watching other kids learn what we had learnt three and five years ago..

Look, check on your state’s laws and see what they say about attending an online school. MOST states consider online schools to be real schools. They may have requirements about those schools, like accreditation, attendance, and record-keeping, but since an online school is no different from any other private school, there generally isn’t a whole lot they can say in opposition to them. But of course graduation is between you and the school.

Getting accepted into OSU is between you and OSU. You will almost certainly need to pull up your ACT score. I dunno how they balance the test score against your grades. When you send in your application tell them you’re testing on Dec. 5 and the ACT will send them your results. That’s the best you can do in that respect.

As for their accepting your progress with the online school as real progress, they’ll probably have the same attitude about it as the attitude they take about homeschooling, which is almost undoubtedly “that’s fine”. I’m also thinking that even if your high school blocks you from graduating for the credits you’ve earned online, your online school will certainly accept the credits you’ve earned in public school, and will surely give you a diploma if you’ve completed their requirements.

Get your scholarship application in before the deadline or else. Missing the deadline means no scholarship for the year, no matter how smoothly things go in every other respect. Get your other financial aid application in as well. It never hurts, while missing the deadline always does.

Please don’t fret so hard over graduating this year. Your pre-med curriculum usually takes four years but with summer school you can do it in three. Some med schools even said they’d take really superior students after three (regular) years, but that might have changed since I last looked into it.

There are a few other options you may not have thought of, if you miss your graduation deadline or something:

Summer school this year. Even if you get your diploma in August that’s not so bad.
Community college. You can enter without a diploma when you turn 18. Get started doing that and transfer to OSU as a sophomore.
Summer school, as I already mentioned. You can reduce a four-year major to three years pretty easily.

One more thing: do yourself a favor and learn to write well. The better your language skills are, the clearer your thinking will be. The more you understand about language in general, the better your thinking. This is not a recommendation meant for English Lit majors only; it’s for everyone, from computer tech manual writers to Mathematicians to astronomers and doctors. Everyone. Some day you may want to publish something in JAMA or NEJM. If you can’t communicate well, your article will never see daylight.

♥☺ bratiskim∞!’s answer is good. I don’t think your guidance counselor is going to lie to you about *your* school’s graduation requirements. Your state and school district sets its graduation requirements. They are available in clearly written form through your school district offices. I’m certain your counselor will know what they are at the school you are attending. If you meet the requirements they set out, you can graduate. However, I would not rely on her for information about the graduation requirements for the online school. Unless the online school you are attending is a public school, their curriculum may not meet the requirements for public school transfer credits. The public school *can* decide if the classes you took are equivalent, and therefore if you can graduate. If the school doesn’t accept the online school’s courses, you’ll have to finish next year if you want to graduate from your high school. The online high school you are attending might accept your credits and allow you to graduate. Some have less stringent graduation requirements than public schools.

Now, as for the part of the question about admission to Ohio State, it’s always best to contact the university directly. They are the best source of information about their admissions requirements. It does sound as if you need to bring up your ACT score in order to gain admission. Although it isn’t what you want to do, finishing next year will give you the best chance to do that. You will have time to study and take practice tests. You can always apply this year and reapply next year if you are not accepted.

I don’t have much to add to ♥☺ bratiskim∞’s answer about scholarships. Many employers offer scholarships. My credit union and the trade union my husband belongs to both offer scholarships, although they are not usually enough to cover 100% of tuition, books, room and board. Almost all students have to supplement them by taking loans, getting help from their families or working part time. Do be sure and meet all application deadlines. Universities don’t make exceptions for their deadlines.

As a side note, while I think working on your writing skills will be important, pointing it out in the context of answering your question isn’t polite. *All* of us, including that answer, could use some work on our writing skills.
